Applications for the Summer 2020 Internship Program are now closed. Thank you for applying!

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is a Washington, DC-based national membership organization of close to 80,000 members, focused on improving the quality and accessibility of early childhood education programs and services and on enhancing the development of children and families. NAEYC is pleased to provide summer internship opportunities for current and recently-graduated students during the Summer of 2020.

Interns will focus on organization management, strategy development, and modern initiatives in early childhood education. This is an opportunity to work directly in the national office and to learn about all divisions of the organization. Interns receive ongoing training and professional mentoring from NAEYC staff. This eight-week internship is located at the NAEYC headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Intern Testimonials

“My internship experience was very profound and fruitful, especially considering the fact that I now work as a full-time NAEYC employee! During my time as a NAEYC Intern, not only was I given a multitude of opportunities to become more knowledgeable of the early childhood sector, but I was also able to make many direct and long-lasting connections with many NAEYC staff and even some affiliates. Something that I really appreciated was the fact that even though I was considered a Digital Content Intern, my voice and opinion concerning very important matters in and out of my department was always taken into account. In addition, the combination of transparency and professionalism exuded by the organization staff was unparalleled to other internships that I've experienced. I felt very supported by HR, my cohort, and my supervisor. I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in the early childhood sector in any capacity to apply for the NAEYC Intern position and take full advantage of all the resources that we have to offer.”  - Ralvell Rogers II, Digital Content Intern, Summer 2019

"One of the things that I really liked was the lunch and learn sessions. This was really important in not just getting all the interns and teams to sit together but also learn one more aspect of NAEYC every week. This really helped me talk about NAEYC not just from the lens of my work, but also what NAEYC as organization in doing or has been doing. I also talk very highly about my experience at NAEYC in my conversation with potential first year applicants here at my college, especially in terms of diversity and inclusiveness." - Muhammad Awais, Finance Intern, Summer 2019
